The ITS Roads engineering lab
Nine miles from Washington, DC and twenty minutes from Ashburn's Data Center Alley. Where roadside systems are built on the bench, tested against the standard and documented before the first truck roll.
Built for bench work that matches the field
- Three-phase power, workbenches, tooling and staging floor for cabinets up to walk-in size
- Gigabit connectivity, isolated test networks and secure VPN access so client engineers can witness tests remotely
- Instrumented RSU test bench: roadside and onboard units, GNSS, PoE switching, signal-controller I/O, SNMP and monitoring tooling, packet capture
- Power and solar test capability: DC loads, UPS runtime, battery and charge-controller evaluation
- Camera and analytics bench for lens, frame-rate and night-performance checks before field deployment
- Secure storage, receiving and packing by site, with serial and MAC manifests
The lab is shared with our PYLON Data Center Services team, which stages and burn-in tests data-center equipment for Northern Virginia facilities, so rack, power and cabling disciplines carry straight across to the roadside.

Less time on the shoulder
A finished, tested panel hangs in an hour. One assembled in the field takes a day and a lane closure, and the mistakes show up in winter.
Witnessed tests
Agencies and primes can attend factory tests in person or over a secure link, sign the test record, and know what is arriving.
Documentation that matches reality
Wiring diagrams, BOMs and work instructions are written from the bench build, not before it, so the as-built is the design.
Visit the lab or ship us the equipment
We welcome agency staff and partners for factory tests and training. Receiving hours by appointment.
